Our School Aim: To make learning irresistible
At Pinewood our whole school commitment is to provide irresistible learning where raising achievement is at the top of our agenda. We are committed to providing the best quality education in order to improve life chances for our children so that ALL children (regardless of background or ability) can meet their potential. Our aim is to provide a broad and balanced curriculum through cross-curricular themes and units of work. It is the school’s practise to provide children with first hand experiences through educational visits linked to the themes of work, visitors into school and using the environment around us as a stimulus for learning. We also enhance children's learning through visits from people from other walks of life and cultures. We have embraced the challenges and standards of the new curriculum to ensure as many children as possible reach the required standard at the end of year 2. Children transfer seamlessly into year 2 from year 1 as our Key Stage 1 team work closely together throughout the year. We also have a good transition programme with the junior school that our children feed into so that children feel enthused and ready to precede their educational journey.
