Our School Aim: To make learning irresistible

School description

Pinewood Infant School and Foundation Unit is a larger than average sized infant school situated on the Killisick Estate in Arnold and was awarded Outstanding in all areas in 2009.

We have 2 classes in F1, 2 classes in Year 1 and 2 classes in Year 2 with up to 30 places in each class. We also have an excellent Nursery (F1) where children come for the morning or afternoon sessions. daily and can pay (space permitting) to stay for full day sessions.

In January 2017 we have 223 children on roll of which 33% are classified as disadvantaged children (excluding F1) and are eligible for pupil premium funding. When compared to other schools in Nottinghamshire, there are more than average pupils from minority ethnic groups on roll (approx 20%) and more than average whose first language is not English (approx. 9%) . The proportion of pupils with learning difficulties and/or disabilities is below the Nottinghamshire average.

The majority of our children in Foundation 1 move directly into Foundation 2 although there is a shifting pattern of more children coming from different settings into F2. Our school is a wonderful learning environment, both inside and out, with a pond area, fruit and vegetable growing plots and even a double decker learning bus!
