Our School Aim: To make learning irresistible
In order for education to be outstanding we need to inspire, motivate and challenge our children. Irresistible learning is a non-negotiable and is at the heart of everything we do. We make learning irresistible by ensuring hands on/practical learning, through providing real experiences, structured and quality play, ensuring visits and visitors into school inspire children, encouraging ownership of learning, getting children to think and making sure we deliver a quality but not over-packed curriculum.
We also strive for children to achieve more and aim to enthuse them with challenge. It’s about allowing children to take risks as well as showing them its ok to fail and how to persevere. Children at Pinewood aren’t just taught to read but will learn a love of reading, they won’t just be taught to add and subtract but will learn a love of solving exciting problems. Children will receive a rich diet of Literacy, reading, phonics, maths, as well as breadth and balance across the curriculum. They will also be educated around the belief that, ‘The best classroom and the richest cupboard is roofed only by the sky.”(Margaret McMillan)
